Girls with Guns!!!! Girls can shoot too.. any takers???? And families that shoot together have a blast! Good deal on paintball /---- ****

So many opportunities flood through our days and women have to stretch and pull themselves into so many things to support and accompany our men, and boy children.  What about girls shooting????  What about us picking up an interest in archery and target shooting??

Tammy Wynette sang "stand by your man" and my husband is always looking, handling and practicing tacticle moves, hand techniques for shooting and aiming at our homemade target range with his "realistic" BB gun.  When funds permit he wants to go to the range or home to Virginia to shoot.  I am very purposed and finding willing sidekicks for him to replace me but I had to start learning to shoot and....

I shot with my eyes closed.. until he was watching me and ..well I learned to keep my eyes open while pulling the trigger.  After the second time I liked it.  And we became a ruttin tootin shootin family.  We enjoy target and tactile (they are so cute all dressed up and crouching, spinning, crawling around) :) shooting.  We are so excited about having this opportunity....  any one want to join us?  or just take advantage of it on your own it is a good deal I have been checking prices and this is all day for most (charles will shoot is 200 in minutes, and then he will be shooting the camera :)

Steps to be a good steward and increase income! Can you spread the word???

Well I am still plugging away and trying to do all I can, Be all I can and decrease a serious shortfall in income due to my schooling. Please spread the word, if I can get about 20 faithful donators who throw these away anyway I can make enough to make it worth the effort, plus it is a good teaching lesson for Charles about stewardship, hard work and recycling benefits.

Feel free to cut and paste this, use the link above in an email. If you know any businesses that do not already recycle, please forward this to them or contact me with their information.

Thank you for your support J

The beginning of the Journey as a Host for CIEE exchange student, Khongphat Prasarnthong; August 13, 2009 through June 2010

Well, I am starting to chronicle our exchange experience. Many friends and family members have asked, "How did this all come about". Well, it was Tuesday morning, Aug. 4, 2009--the last day of classes and final exam day. As usual I was checking my email and this was one of the posts on an email loop I belong to....

Subject: Prayer Request

Today, I am sending out emails to as many people as possible about 4 CIEE boys who need a host family immediately. Two of these students earned a scholarship from the Dept. of State in order to be a part of this program. Two others paid to come here and learn English while living with an American family so they may learn our culture while sharing theirs with you. These are the last boys on my list to place and time is running out for them to be able to come here. Please let me know of any family who may be interested in hosting any of these boys and to see their profiles. They come from India, Korea, Indonesia and Thailand; all have great academics, want to play sports, no allergies and will live with pets. Please pray for the right family to contact me about these boys according to the Lord's will. Thank you and may God bless you also. As soon as they are placed, I will send an update out to everyone letting you know their situation.

Have a great week!

My heart was pounding.. I was like is this my answer??? (I have been praying for months, and months for direction and discernment on ministry and witnessing opportunities and well this has potential to be both). I replied to the email and Lynnette called me immediately, we talked on the phone, she sent me the link to the website and the ball was rolling.

Well, the day continued, I helped my inlaw prepare to load up and return to Virginia. Charles went with them, I went to school to take my A & P exam.. (biting my nails all the way there and then suddenly just had peace over the situation and the C didn't seem so bad {Finally}). After I was done at school I drove up to Virginia for a day of R & R at the Va.Beach oceanfront, my happy place. While there Charles and I talked somemore about the exchange student and he was very excited. At that point I had not read the profile, just new that he was from Thailand and was a senior, 16 years old. Charles and I continued our vacation day at the beach. We visited with family and discussed it and it was really an easy fit. We drove home Thursday afternoon and got home 5 minutes before the scheduled interview with Lynnette. When we(I) saw the profile we new this was the right choice and we were "the right family" we were praying would come up and agree to sponsor this deserving student.

{Note: I have promised that when I have a strong feeling again, and feel compelled to obligate US to something, I will talk to the other half of Us before moving ahead. Another confirmation that I was right on July 21, 1988... I needed this man! He is PEFECT for me, (He has God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in him to guide him to love me in all my "best intentions and heart over matter" and keep his flesh from wringing my little chicken neck. And for all that I have been so richly given I am eternally thankful}

He loves basketball and soccer, is interested in football. Last year he traveled to Japan and can speak some japanese.

Despite the awkward beginning, God has blessed this journey so much already and I am so in awe of Him and my husband. We are enjoying the hosting experience so much.

Here is a peak at our first 24 hours ( Arrival at 4:30 pm on Thursday, August 13, through the GEICO Family Picnic the next afternoon at Tucker Lake in Wilson, NC.)

Stay tuned... Please pray for us to remain good ambassadors for our God, Country, and Family. Also pray for the Prasarnthong family in Thailand and abroad, as they have to be missing this awesome young man. Pray that God blesses them with the emails and updates they receive, give them peace and joy knowing what an awesome experience and learning experience "Mek" Khongphat is receiving and how much he is teaching his host family about his country, culture and family.

Stress and Anger have a connection and are a big part of most peoples lives. Some people are aware (painfully at times) of their reactions to stress and anger and others do not acknowledge them but do deal with these factors. Planning and fore thought on complex and emotional issues can really help make the experience less "STRESSful" and problematic for all.

Stress and Anger are connected
Why and How to Manage Stress
By Dot Wiggins

Which comes first the rage or the flawed perception? If anger comes from unmet expectations and expectations originate in the brain, is the solution for anger outbursts in the brain too?

“That which angers you controls you”. “That which controls your mind controls your behavior”.

Know thyself! A maxim as pernicious as it is ugly. Whoever observes himself arrests his own development. A caterpillar that wanted to know himself well would never become a butterfly..... Andre Gide

UGH! UGH! One must do SOME self-observation; that helps with our development into butterflyness. (ABC’s of Self Help, http://www.helpself.com/index.html ; 11/25/08)

Emotional Health = Mental Health, The following excerpt is from the self helppsychology book, Be Your Own Therapist., Thayer White MA MFT Licensed Psychotherapist, http://www.psychologyhelp.com/emot91.htm; 11/25/08

Emotionally healthy adults, with respect to anger, are comfortable with anger and hatred, their own and others (Be your own therapist, Thayer White MA MFT Licensed Psychoterapist, http://www.psychologyhelp.com/emot92.htm ; 11/25/08

Anger Tip. There are few "always" in therapy. Here is one of them: anger (including irritation, rage, hatred, etc.) is always based upon unfulfilled expectations. If I can let go of my expectations, I will not feel angry. (Be Your Own Therapist, Thayer White MA MFT Lincensed Psychotherapist, http://www.psychologyhelp.com/emot92.htm ; 11/25/08

Creative Stress Management Activities and Multi-Tasking Stress Stress Relievers
Unconventional Stress-Relievers, Scott, Elizabeth, M.S., About.com

Self consideration, awareness and evaluation of feelings, thoughts and behaviors can be pivotal in retraining oneself to make better and more beneficial decisions. Positive thinking has a direct effect on behavior and in turn effects relationships, and feelings about accomplishments and can reduce stress. How Does Positive Thinking Impact Your Stress Level?

(Second Page)

Stress comes in many forms and so does relief. Mix and match stress relief items, change them and keep things available, like a “Tool kit” for when stress enters your day.
Stress Tool kit Items:

In constructing your stress program, start with the tools to relieve your stress. What “healthy” things make you happy, relaxed, inspired, and rejuvenated? When stressed, decision-making can be impaired and poor judgment and lack of thought can cause unwanted consequences. We want to have a plan and tools available, so when stress hits it is relieved in a positive and healthy manner. Avoiding “false relievers” like alcohol, drugs, risky behavior, impulsive purchases, and unhealthy physical activities.

Music, Aroma therapy, Visualization cues, toys and other “handy activities”, humor and laughter inducing items, exercise, massage items, journal, religious materials, consultation with a positive influence, counseling.

Make your kit something reasonable and portable so you can carry it with you. Update it as appropriate so you will have relevant aids to help reduce the stress effectively and efficiently. Have a back up plan for “crisis” events or for long-term stress events. Write your plan out and let someone know where it is, so in the event you are in need of consoling or gentle reminders to use your plan they can help you.

Picture of "My" Kit.

Stress Plan:

How will you use your kit? Which items for which situations?

Does the location of the stressful event matter?

Having a preplanned action plan to manage your stress will help make it a successful experience. Knowing what you will do to return yourself to the “normal” “Positive” and effective thinking individual you are before the stress will help in your consistency and motivation to handle the stress effectively and not deny or ignore it until it becomes a different issue, usually Anger or worse.

When stressed about ______________________________________ I will __________________. If I am still on edge and unable to concentrate, I will do
____________________________________________. If I need to talk to someone I will call ___________________ at ______________________, or ____________________ at _______________________. If a serious or extremely upsetting event comes up I will __________________________________ and call ____________________________________ at ___________________________.

I have practiced this plan and it was successful for _____________________________ on _________________________________________. I have reviewed this plan with __________________________

and they know where I keep my “kit” and how I execute my plan.

Encourgement, Acts of Kindness, Projects of the heart

Encouragement, Acts of Kindness, Projects of the heart are so need these days. Many little campaigns have cropped up over the years but now have really spread and taken off to become a social trend. Well, we have a fresh new approach and with technology advances, this one has promise to really become popular. With all of us closet anonymous gifters and encouragers behind this movement we can lift the spirits of those around us. Creative people can really have fun and go wild. This was on Good Morning America this morning, but I could not find the video clip on their website, but these websites speaks for themselves. Check them out and let the fun begin. And if you find something on your porch or door step now it will be too hard to know where it came from so just enjoy the spirit and pass on that spirit to someone else! :)

"All they ask for is Prayer, for Ella" touching story

On Sunday, April 27th, Ella Newmiller and her family attended church at Edenton Street United Methodist, in Raleigh, as they do each week. Ella is in my son Scott's, 4 year old Sunday School class. Ella did not feel well that evening. Her parents, Renae and Mark, took her to an urgent care facility. On Monday, they found themselves at UNC Hospitals, being faced with the news that their precious daughter has an inoperable brain tumor. It is located at the base of her brain, inside the brain stem.

Friday, May 2nd, was Ella's 5th birthday. Friends at Edenton Street pulled together an amazing celebration for 'Princess Ella'. She arrived in a horse drawn carriage and was greeted by over 100 friends dressed in their royal best. 'Mr. and Miss Wolf' from NC State, plus 'Stormy', from the Carolina Hurricanes joined in the celebration. There was a DJ, beauty queens, bubbles, balloons and presents.

Ella's mother, Renae, commented, 'We don't need meals or errands. The only thing we really need is PRAYER.' Renae asked me to tell friends, 'even if they don't know Ella', to please pray. She asked that those friends ask 10 friends (even if they don't know the Newmillers) to pray. So, I am asking you to pray daily for Ella Newmiller, for the oncologists and physicians directing her care, for her parents, Renae and Mark, and for her brother Jack (2nd grade). Pray for God's healing hand. Pray for both direction and comfort for Ella's family. Also pray for strength and courage for Ella. Additionally, if you feel led, please forward this prayer request to friends.

I am attaching a photo of Ella from Friday's 5th birthday celebration. If you would like updates on Ella, please log onto her care page at http://www.carepages.com/ , under Ella Newmiller. There are simple prompts to help you log on. Thanks~

with love,
Louise
James 5:13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. and James 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up;...
Please add this family to your prayer list, forward your friends and ask them to pray too.
