Makings of Friendship, and BFF

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7O9G2QTs9Eg

Friend is one of the titles and names in life that I like the most. To many it is thrown around like many other words but to me it is like a crown, it is an honor to be called a friend. Christ used this word and therefore it is special (to me).

Growing up I watched others and how they talked and did things for people and there was something different when the person was a "friend". "You help everybody, you clean out your house for a friend" a family friend use to say. "If you have 1/2 a peanut butter sandwich, you would give 1/2 of it to a friend". You care enough about the person to say the tough stuff, the truth even when it is not going to be easy, fun, or the most comfortable. I have a motto, "Friend don't let friends hurt themselves by allowing them to live in "De Nial". When people are not real and living in reality, truth is a distant things and without truth there is not trust which upsets the balance of the relationship. Friendship is an active relationship that sometimes requires some action steps (IN LOVE, not selfish motivites). You have to love enough to risk losing face, favor and possibly some time with the person in order to step up and be the FRIEND! and when you are on the receiving end you need to see the person's love for you and be a good friend and receive in truth. When you fumble on either side of the play, YOU need to call a timeout and fix it! Restoration is a priority and a responsibility. As Christians we are to be praying ceaselessly, Pray for each other, pray for wisdom and humility to come to the line and restore the relationship. Pray for them during the separation. Pray in good times, pray in hard times, Pray.... It is what makes the difference!! God is in control of even our relationships! (when we invite him there, and it has an awesome promise, "Wherever two or more are gathered in my name, I too am there!!). (With Christ with us who can harm us?????)

What makes someone a friend? What makes you "feel" special about a person?

LOVE!!!! I have a tendency to repeat myself, so I will just say I Corinthians 13:4-8 and let you go read it for yourself and define love.

Are you at odds with someone? Are you finding lots of room in your life that use to have people there but now is sparsely and less involved with deep meaningful relationships? Maybe it is not the events or the conversations you are missing maybe it is the FRIEND, the person, the dedication, the LOVE!.

Just a thought that was rumbling around in my head this morning. :)
